Glasser Wins Three Events For Washington
CHESTERTOWN, MD – Senior Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) won three individual events for Washington College, but it was not enough as visiting Widener University had the top time in seven of 11 events en route to a 101-95 victory over Washington on Saturday afternoon at the Casey Swim Center. The Pride goes to 5-1 overall, while the Shorewomen drop to 3-3.
The loss for Washington ends a 59-dual meet non-conference winning streak. The last time WC lost a non-conference dual swim meet was a 103-102 setback at Millersville on February 4, 1999.
Glasser won the 200 butterfly (2:09.54) and the 500 and 1000 freestyle events with times of 5:20.83 and 10:43.99 respectively. The 400 medley relay team of freshman Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales), junior Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales), sophomore Alix Batesko (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and freshman Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) earned a time of 4:11.25 in winning the event.
Miskiel earned the first-place points in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:32.45 and relay team of Badger, sophomore Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest), sophomore Emma Jackovitz (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) and junior Ellen Liebenow (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) garnered the first-place points in the 400 freestyle relay with a mark of 3:58.78.
Badger recorded the top time for a Washington College swimmer this season in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:26.12. Freshman Samantha Gross (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) had the third-best time for a Shorewomen swimmer this season in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:25.31.
Washington returns to action versus Elizabethtown on Saturday, January 15. Meet time is 1:00 p.m.
