CHESTER, PA -- Host Widener University defeated visiting Washington College, 111-85, in non-conference women's swimming this afternoon in Chester, PA.
The Pride (1-4) built an early lead in the meet and entered a number of swimmers as exhibition entrants during the meet's second half. Sophomore Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) received the first-place points for the Shorewomen (2-4) in the 100 breaststroke with the race's second-fastest time of 1:12.99. She was also second in the 100 freestyle in 56.54.
Senior Morgan Phillips (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) received the first-place points in the 500 freestyle with the third-fastest time of 5:48.44, while junior Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) received the first-place points in the 100 butterfly with the third-fastest time of 1:06.84. Her time was also a Washington College season best.
The Shorewomen return to action January 14th with a 1:00 p.m. non-conference meet at Elizabethtown.
