Miskiel, Gross Combine to Win Five Individual Events
ELIZABETHTOWN, PA -- Sophomore Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won three individual events and sophomore Samantha Gross (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) won two as visiting Washington College defeated host Elizabethtown, 110-93, in a non-conference swim meet this afternoon in Elizabethtown, PA. The Shorewomen improved to 3-4 with the win, while the Blue Jays fell to 3-4 with the loss.
Miskiel won the 200 freestyle in 2:08.26, the 100 freestyle in 58.49, and the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.66. Gross finished first in the 200 individual medley in 2:29.93 and in the 100 butterfly in 1:09.49.
Sophomore Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales) took first place in the 50 freestyle in 26.83, while senior Morgan Phillips (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) won the 100 backstroke in 1:09.19. Washington also won the 200 medley relay as Phillips, junior Allison Kvien (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon), Badger, and freshman Alicia Howard (Wilmington, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) finished first in 2:03.90.
Howard added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley in 2:30.33, while freshman Ashley Maurizi (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico) placed second in the 200 freestyle in 2:10.97.
The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Dickinson.
