Miskiel Wins Two Events for Shorewomen
COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Host Ursinus College defeated visiting Washington College, 122-77, in Centennial Conference women's swimming this afternoon in Collegeville, PA. Sophomore Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won two individual events for the Shorewomen in the loss.
Miskiel took first place in the 100 freestyle in 56.55 and in the 200 breaststroke in 2:33.51.
Junior Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern-Valley Demarest) placed second in both the 400 individual medley in 5:08.26 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:37.65. Freshman Ashley Maurizi (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico) placed second in the 1000 freestyle in 11:4.63, sophomore Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales) was second in the 50 freestyle in 26.52, and freshman Alicia Howard (Wilmington, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) finished second in the 200 backstroke in 2:24.59.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Badger, Sykes, Maurizi, and Howard received first-place points as Ursinus entered that event as exhibitions only. The Shorewomen's time of 1:47.00 was the third-fastest in the race.
The Shorewomen close out their dual meet schedule one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at McDaniel.
