Morgan, Yocum Win Two Individual Events Each
ST. MARY'S CITY, MD -- Visiting Washington College improved to 2-1 this season by winning nine of 11 events against host St. Mary's College of Maryland in a 115-90 non-conference men's swimming victory tonight.
Freshman Lucas Morgan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) and sophomore Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) each won two individual events for the Shoremen. Morgan won the 400 individual medley in 4:16.50 to become the Shoremen's fourth-fastest swimmer event in the event and also took first place in the 500 freestyle in 5:00.88. Yocum won the 100 freestyle in 48.79 to become the Shoremen's seventh-fastest swimmer ever in that event and captured the 1000 freestyle in 10:42.43.
Freshman Eric Burcin (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), sophomore Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial), and freshman Charles Logan (Durham, NC/Riverside) each won one individual event. Burcin took the 50 freestyle in 22.75, Lee placed first in the 100 butterfly in 55.15, and Logan captured the 100 backstroke in 56.34.
The Shoremen also won both relay events. Logan, Morgan, Lee, and Burcin finished first in the 200 medley relay in 1:41.14. Sophomore Steven Bilinski (Swarthmore, PA/Strath Haven), Burcin, freshman DJ Bradshaw (Reisterstown, MD/Calvert Hall), and Yocum placed first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:30.77.
The Shoremen return to action Saturday, November 17th, with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Franklin & Marshall.
