Miskiel, 200 Freestyle Relay Take First Place in Loss
WESTMINSTER, MD -- Host McDaniel College won nine of 11 events to defeat visiting Washington College, 56-39, in Centennial Conference women's swimming this afternoon.
Sophomore Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won the 200 individual medley in a Washington College season-best time of 2:20.61 for the Shorewomen. She also placed second in the 100 freestyle in 56.53 and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.08.
Senior Morgan Phillips (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle), freshman Ashley Maurizi (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico), sophomore Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales), and freshman Alicia Howard (Wilmington, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:45.71.
Phillips finished second in the 50 freestyle in 25.97 and in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.32. Maurizi touched the wall second in the 500 freestyle in 5:37.15, while Howard placed second in the 200 freestyle in 2:06.98. Junior Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern-Valley Demarest) added a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle in 11:44.16.
The Shorewomen return to action at the Centennial Conference Championships, February 17th-19th at Gettysburg College.
