Maxwell Wins Two Events in Loss for Shorewomen
CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Visiting Franklin & Marshall College improved to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in Centennial Conference meets with a 118-81 win over host Washington College in women's swimming action today inside Casey Swim Center. Freshman Ellen Maxwell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) recorded a pair of first-place finishes in the loss for the Shorewomen (2-2, 1-2).
Maxwell won the 200 individual medley in 2:18.05 and the 200 backstroke in 2:18.17. Senior Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.50 and placed second in the 100 freestyle in a personal-best 55.12, improving upon her time as the Shorewomen's eighth-fastest swimmer ever in the event.
Sophomore Julianna Fritzinger (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion Area) and senior Carly Ogren (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) each posted one individual second-place finish for Washington. Fritzinger was second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.47, while Ogren was second in the 50 freestyle in 26.33.
The Shorewomen also received the first-place points in the 400 freestyle relay as F&M entered the final event as exhibitions only. Junior Alicia Howard (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), freshman Megan Obarowski (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), freshman Megan Obarowski (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), and Maxwell had the second-fastest time in the race, finishing in 3:48.75.
The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. non-conference home meet against St. Mary's.
