Miskiel, Maxwell, Howard Win Two Individual Events Each
CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The Washington College women's swim team won nine of 11 events in a 122-83 non-conference meet over visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland this afternoon. The Shorewomen improved to 3-2 with the win, while the Seahawks fell to 6-4 with the loss.
Junior Alicia Howard (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), freshman Ellen Maxwell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven), and senior Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) each won two individual events for the Shorewomen in the win. Howard won the 50 freestyle in 25.91 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.61, while Miskiel took the 200 freestyle in 2:00.64 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.94. Maxwell won the 400 individual medley in 4:52.24 to become the Shorewomen's 10th-fastest swimmer ever in that event and captured the 500 freestyle in 5:23.72.
Freshman Angelina Tomasura (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.84. The Shorewomen opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay as freshman Jacquelyn Creitz (Schencksville, Pa./Parkland), Miskiel, Tomasura, and Maxwell completed the race in 1:56.84. Washington also won the 200 freestyle relay as senior Carly Ogren (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock), Tomasura, freshman Megan Obarowski (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South), and Howard won in 1:45.71.
Ogren had a pair of individual second-place finishes as well, in the 1000 freestyle (11:29.54) and the 100 freestyle (56.54). Creitz added a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.20.
The Shorewomen return to action December 6th and 7th at the Randolph-Macon Invitational.
