Pool Relay Record Falls, Lessard Reaches Milestone in Shorewomen's 130-75 Win Against Salisbury

800 Freestyle Relay Team Sets New Casey Swim Center Mark; Lessard Picks Up 200th Win as Coach of Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The Casey Swim Center record in the 800 freestyle relay was broken by the host Washington College women's swim team in the Shorewomen's 130-75 non-conference win over Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University tonight. The win also gave Kim Lessard her 200th victory as head coach of the Shorewomen.

How It Happened
- The 800 freestyle relay team of Katie Gorman, Ellen Maxwell, Mackenzie Gaze, and Julia Portmann finished off the meet with their first-place pool-record time of 8:06.40, bettering the previous mark of 8:10.80 by more than four seconds.
- Maxwell, Portmann, and Jenni Clune each won two individual events for the Shorewomen in the victory. Maxwell took the 200 individual medley in 2:17.84 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.45, while Portmann won the 200 freestyle in 1:58.48 and the 500 freestyle in 5:24.88. Clune was first in the 100 freestyle in 55.33 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.34.
- Gorman was first in the 50 freestyle in 25.89 and took second in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.96. Allie Grillo added an 11:35.85 second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle, while Anna Schmittle placed second in the 100 freestyle in 57.44. 
- The Shorewomen opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley as Maija Adourian, Clune, Angelina Tomasura, and Mackenzie Gaze posted a first-place time of 1:56.26.

Notes
- Lessard now has a record of 200-100 as head coach of the Shorewomen. She is also 146-105-1 as head coach of the Shoremen, giving her 346 combined victories. She is in her 26th season as the Shorewomen's head coach and 25th as Shoremen's head coach. 
- The Shorewomen improved to 1-2 this season with the win, while the Sea Gulls dropped to 3-2 with the loss.
- The Shorewomen have now won 29 straight dual meets against the Sea Gulls since coming out on the wrong end of the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
