Freshman Sweeps 200, 500, and 1000 Freestyle Races

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Freshman Julia Portmann (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) won the 200, 500, and 1000 freestyle races as the host Washington College women's swim team defeated visiting St. Mary's, 132-73, this afternoon inside Casey Swim Center.

How It Happened
- Portmann won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.09, the 500 freestyle in 5:23.94, and the 1000 freestyle in 10:58.49.
- Ellen Maxwell and Jenni Clune each won two individual events for the Shorewomen. Maxwell captured the 400 individual medley in 4:51.74 and the 100 backstroke in 1:03.18, while Clune was first in the 100 freestyle in 56.05 and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.73.
- Katie Gorman won the 50 freestyle for Washington in 25.88 and took second in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.37. She also swam the second leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay team, joining Anna Schmittle, Alison Sanders, and Mackenzie Gaze for a winning time of 1:43.82.
- Allie Grillo placed second in the 400 individual medley in 5:00.78, while Trish Liller was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.03.

Notes
- The Shorewomen evened their dual meet record at 2-2 with the win, while the Seahawks dropped to 3-4 with the loss.
