Portmann Wins Three Individual Events for Shorewomen
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Visiting Swarthmore College improved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in Centennial Conference meets with a 114-91 women's swimming victory over host Washington College tonight inside Casey Swim Center. Freshman Julia Portmann (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) won three individual events for the Shorewomen, who fell to 4-4 and 1-3 with the loss.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen won six of the 11 events, but wins in both relays helped propel the Garnet to the victory.
- Portmann's wins came in the 1000 freestyle in 11:00.75, the 100 freestyle in 55.33, and the 500 freestyle in 5:28.40.
- Ellen Maxwell added a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley in 2:15.99 for the Shorewomen and was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.22, a Washington College season-best time that made her the Shorewomen's seventh-fastest swimmer ever in that event.
- Katie Gorman won the 50 freestyle in 25.49, while Mackenzie Gaze took the 200 freestyle in 2:03.13 for Washington. Tricia Markey was second in both the 1000 freestyle in 11:20.75 and the 500 freestyle in 5:32.46, while Anna Schmittle placed second in the 200 freestyle in 2:05.26.
