Portmann Wins 1000 Freestyle for Shorewomen
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Host Ursinus College improved to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in Centennial Conference meets with a 164-93 win over visiting Washington College in women's swimming action this afternoon. The Shoremen dropped to 4-5 and 1-4 with the loss.

How It Happened
- Ursinus won 11 of the 12 events it competed in as scoring entries. (The Bears entered the final two events - the 200 individual medley and 200 freestyle relay as exhibitions only).
- Julia Portmann captured the Shorewomen's lone outright first-place finish, taking the 1000 freestyle in 11:08.85. She was also second in the 500 freestyle in 5:15.29.
- Katie Gorman was second in both the 50 freestyle in 25.94 and the 100 freestyle in 56.12. Jenni Clune was second for the Shorewomen in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.18, while Ellen Maxwell placed second in the 200 backstroke in 2:17.19.
- Maxwell picked up the first-place points in the 200 individual medley in 2:22.41. Portmann, Gorman, Mackenzie Gaze, and Clune received the first-place points in the 200 freestyle relay, finishing in 1:43.94.
