Portmann & Maxwell Win Two Individual Events Each for the Shorewomen
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. — Visiting Washington College won nine of 11 events to earn a 133-70 non-conference women's swimming victory over host St. Mary's College this evening. The Shorewomen upped their record to 2-3 with the win, while the Seahawks remained winless at 0-5 with the loss.

Shorewomen Highlights
- Julia Portmann won the 1000 freestyle (11:09.34) and the 500 freestyle (5:26.18), while Ellen Maxwell captured the 200 individual medley (2:19.67) and 200 backstroke (2:17.33).
- Katie Gorman, Lindsay Wiecki, and Mackenzie Gaze each won one individual event. Gorman won the 50 freestyle (25.69), Wiecki the 200 butterfly (2:20.41), and Gaze the 100 freestyle (56.67). Gaze was also second in the 200 freestyle (2:04.47).
- Maxwell, Alex Searles, Wiecki, and Gorman opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 medley relay (4:13.71). Portmann, Wiecki, Gaze, and Gorman finished the meet by winning the 400 freestyle relay in 3:48.20.
- Anna Schmittle placed second in both the 50 freestyle (26.39) and 100 freestyle (56.89). Searles was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:40.37).
