Maxwell Breaks Pool Record in 400 Individual Medley
SALISBURY, Md. — The Washington College women's swim team rolled to its 30th straight win in its all-time series with rival Salisbury University with a 138-67 victory over the host Sea Gulls tonight. The Shorewomen improved to 1-2 this season with the win, while the Sea Gulls fell to 1-3 with the loss.

Shorewomen Highlights
- The Shorewomen won 10 of the meet's 11 events, including two each in individual events from Ellen Maxwell, Julia Portmann, and Jenni Clune. Maxwell won the 400-meter individual medley in a pool-record 5:26.65 and captured the 100-meter backstroke in 1:09.45. Portmann won the 800-meter freestyle in 9:55.80 and the 400-meter freestyle in 4:51.74. Clune was first in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:01.09 and the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:17.50.
- Katie Gorman won the 50-meter freestyle in 28.70 and was second in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:01.61. Lindsay Wiecki placed first in the 100-meter butterfly in 1:08.56 and second in the 400-meter freestyle in 4:52.83.
- The Shorewomen won both relays as Maxwell, Clune, Wiecki, and Mackenzie Gaze won the 200-meter medley relay in 2:07.74 and Portmann, Gaze, Anna Schmittle, and Gorman won the 200-meter freestyle relay in 1:55.81.
- Gaze added a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:18.43.
Notes
- The Sea Gulls' home venue, Maggs Pool, features a 25-meter pool rather than the more usual 25-yard pool found at most NCAA schools.
- The Shorewomen are now 30-1 all-time against the Sea Gulls.
