Mandrell Sets Pool Mark in 200 Backstroke and 800 Freestyle Relay Team Records Top Pool Time
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College men's swim team set two Casey Swim Center pool records on Saturday afternoon in a 154-82 win over visiting St. Mary's inside the Casey Swim Center in non-conference men's swimming action.

Shoremen Highlights
- Gage Mandrell set the pool record in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:52.59, breaking the mark held by Andrew Feeley '21, who set it in 2019 in 1:54.17. Mandrell's time also makes him the program's second-fastest swimmer in the event. Mandrell also won the 50 freestyle in 21.53, improving his time in the event by .03 of a second as he is 10th all-time in program history in the event.
- The 800 freestyle relay team of Mandrell, Bianti Danaj, Chase Hensen and Zach Affeldt set the Casey Swim Center mark in 7:11.63. The prior pool record was set by Feeley, Aidan Sullivan '20, Nate Braddock and Brendan Jones '20 on February 9, 2019 against McDaniel in 7:16.32.
- In the 200 medley relay, the team of Benjamin Wilson, Hensen, Danaj and Mandrell won the event in 1:36.08.
- Grayson Wright took home two first place finishes as he won the 100 butterfly (56.26) and the 200 butterfly (2:04.82).
- Affeldt was victorious in both the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.37 and 200 breaststroke in 2:11.84.
- CJ Dunker captured the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:24.23.
- Jack Poleto grabbed the top time in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.42.
- Danaj secured the win for the Shoremen in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.36.
- Braddock took home first place in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.89.
- Patrick Downes recorded the top time in the 200 individual medley (2:11.82).
Notes
- Mandrell was named the Goose Nation TV Shoreman Swimmer of the Meet.
- The Shoremen are now 4-2 overall, while the Seahawks fall to 4-5 overall.
