NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Host #23 Christopher Newport downed visiting Washington College, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at the James River Country Club in non-conference women's tennis action.

Doubles
- The Captains won all three doubles to take a 3-0 lead.
Raine Weis and
Tessa Trate, ranked 10th in the Atlantic South Region, topped
Piper Sartison and
Irene Meng at No. 1, 8-1.
Mia Linam and
Kiersten Chang won at No. 2, 8-3, over the Shorewomen's
Eva Kading and
Soleil Namunyola. In No. 3 doubles, Christopher Newport's duo of
Megan Bauer and
Logan Glen prevailed 8-5 over Washington's
Bin Nguyen and
Isabella Sorhegui.
Singles
- Weis topped Meng, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles match.
- Trate bested Kading at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2.
- In third singles, Linam downed Sartison, 6-1, 6-0.
- Chang registered a 6-1, 6-3, win over Namunyola at No. 4.
- Nguyen netted a 7-5, 6-3, victory at No. 5 for WC over
Anna Campbell.
- Ruppert edged the Captains' Kendra Womack at No. 6, 6-2, 6-7 (5) and 1-0 (10-6) at No. 6 to give the Shorewomen a second singles win.

- The Captains, ranked sixth in the Atlantic South region, are 1-5 on the season, while Shorewomen are 0-2.
