#25 Blue Jays Top Shorewomen, 9-0

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #25 Johns Hopkins downed host Washington College, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon inside the Johnson Fitness Center in Centennial Conference women's tennis action.  It was the conference opener for the Shorewomen.

Doubles
- The Blue Jays won all three doubles to grab a 3-0 lead.  No. 3 doubles was the first time and Johns Hopkins' tandem of Niamh Harding and Christina Huynh downed Washington's Isabella Sorhegui and Bin Nguyen, 8-0.  In the next match to finish, No. 1, the Blue Jays' Julia Xiao and Kamila Wong, ranked ninth in the Atlantic South Region, got the better of the Shorewomen's Piper Sartison and Irene Meng, 8-5.  The final match to conclude was at No. 2 and the guests' Emily Javedan and Mary Beth Hurley came away with an 8-5 win over the hosts' Eva Kading and Soleil Namunyola, 8-5.  

Singles
- Wong, ranked 36th nationally and ninth in the region, won 6-0, 6-3, over Sartison at No. 3 singles in the first match to finish.
- Huynh secured the win for the Blue Jays with a 6-0, 6-2, over Namunyola at No. 4.
- In second singles, Hurley bested Kading, 6-3, 6-0, in the third match to finish.
- Xiao, ranked 27th nationally and seventh in the region, prevailed 6-4, 6-1, over Meng at the top spot.
- Harding took both sets from Nguyen at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1, in the second to last match to conclude.
- In the last match to be played to its conclusion, Javedan topped Katie Ruppert, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 6.

Notes
- The Blue Jays, ranked seventh in the Atlantic South Region are 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Centennial, while Shorewomen are 0-4 and 0-1 respectively.
