Shoremen Fall to #21 Garnet 8-1

Ravichandran Secures Lone Point in No. 5 Singles

SWARTHMORE, Pa.- Host #21 Swarthmore won all three doubles and five out of six singles to top visiting Washington College, 8-1, on Tuesday afternoon at the Faulkner Courts.

Doubles
- In top flight doubles, the Garnet's Purushotham Koduri and Michael Melinkov, ranked fifth in the Atlantic South Region, topped Karl Hoegstedt and Andre Jakobi, ranked sixth in the region, 8-4.  No. 3 doubles finished next with Swarthmore's Max Pogorelov and Andres Fente winning 8-5 over Ryohei Kawai and Christian Gruyon.  The hosts completed the sweep as Max Lindstrom and Rushil Patel, ranked 14th in the region, won 8-4 versus Jack Fanshawe and Landon Strober.
 
Singles
- Aamish Pal won the first singles match to conclude as he downed WC's Gruyon, 6-4 and 6-0 in the No.6 slot.
- Lalith Suresh secured the win for Swarthmore with a pair of 6-3 wins over Jakobi.
- Melnikov, ranked third in the region, won in top flight singles over Hoegstedt, ranked eighth, 6-4, 6-3.
- Aaradith Ravichandran secured the lone victory for the Shoremen in a three set contest over Josiah Meyers Lipton in a 10-8 third set win after splitting the first two in a 6-3 victory and a 6-1 loss in No. 5 singles.
- Lindstrom topped Strober, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 for the Garnet.
- Purushotham bested Fanshawe in the No. 4 singles contest, 6-4, 7-6

Notes
- The Shoremen, ranked 15th in the region drop to 6-7 overall and 5-2 in Centennial Conference play, while the Garnet, ranked fifth in the Atlantic South, improves to 11-3 overall and 6-0 respectively.
