CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College women's lacrosse team played host Ursinus in the opening round of the Centennial Conference Tournament on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. The fifth seeded Bears started the game well with a pair of Julia McCann goals to take a quick lead. The Bears continued to score and lead by as many as three during the first half.Â

Just before the break, Washington started to catch fire on offense. Led by
Ellie Morrall, the Shorewomen went on a 13-3 scoring run from the end of the second period until the game ended. Morrall finished with career highs in goals and points to lead the Shorewomen to an 18-11 win and into the next round of the tournament at top-seeded Gettysburg.Â

How It Happened
- Ursinus opened the scoring through a goal by Julia McCann on their first shot of the game. McCann added a second just over a minute later as she weaved through the defense to shoot one past Wingate in goal. Nine seconds later,
Mia Salvatierra got the Shorewomen on the board. After Ursinus scored a third,
Mia Salvatierra scored two quick goals to tie the game at three with six minutes left in the first period. Grace Lynch and Riley Morgan put the Bears back up two before
Morgan Sutherland scored in the final minute of the first period to cut the deficit to 5-4 after one.Â

-Ursinus found the next first in the second period through a free position goal by Mary Michaud. Ashley Noto put the Bears up three before
Ellie Morrall notched her first goal of the night to make it 7-5. Ursinus went back up three when Michaud notched her second goal. Morrall answered to make it 8-6 with 2:18 left in the first half.
Tobin Chambers found the net just before half to cut the Ursinus lead to 8-7 at the break.Â

-The Shorewomen tied the game through a Mary-Cate Anson goal just under five minutes into the second period.
Ellie Morrall gave the Shorewomen their first lead of the night with a free position goal at the 9:45 mark of the third period.
Tobin Chambers added on to the lead with a finish halfway through the third to make it 10-8. The Bears then called a time out with the Shorewomen on a 5-0 run. Mary Michaud stopped the run with a goal immediately following the stoppage. Washington then called a timeout before Mia Salvatierria assisted
Ellie Morrall on a breakaway finish. Ursinus scored to make it 11-10 before Morrall added another just before the end of the third to make it 12-10 heading into the final period.

-Morrall notched her sixth goal with 12:32 remaining before setting up
Ashley Devlin for another just over a minute later to push the lead to 14-10. Morrall turned provider once more for a
Tobin Chambers goal to push the Shorewomen out in front by five with 9:07 remaining. The Shorewomen would continue to add on from there as they cruised through the final ten minutes of the contest. Â

Ellie Morrall's seven goals set a career best. The Senior also tied a career high in assists with three to set a new career high in points with 10. This is the 13th time the Shorewomen have advanced to the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Tournament.Â
