#40 Captains Down Shoremen, 7-2

Hoegstedt and Chialva Win in Singles

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #40 Christopher Newport topped host Washington College, 7-2, on Friday afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action at Schottland Tennis Center.

Doubles
- The Captains took all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles.  Third doubles was the first to finish and Christopher Newport's Ahun Vodela and Alex Seretis won 8-1 over Washington's Jorge Urgal Zuleta and Johannes Ludwigstorff.  First singles was the next to conclude as the Captains' duo of Ashton Legum and Eddy Porsmyr Hansen came away with an 8-5 victory over the Shoremen's pair of Karl Hoegstedt and Aaradith Ravichandran.  No. 2 singles was the final of the three to end and the road team's tandem of Nesh Kumaresan and Vincent Truong prevailed 8-6 against the home side's Kohl Perkins and Ryohei Kawai.

Singles
- The first to finish was No. 4 singles with the Captains' Legum topping Ravichandran, 6-2, 6-1. 
- Seretis would clinch the win for Christopher Newport with a two set win over Urgal Zuleta, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5.
- Hoegstedt would net WC's first win of the match in a 7-5, 6-2 win over Truong, ranked 17th in the Atlantic South Region.
- Tichi Chialva got the Shoremen their other win in the six spot with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 6 over Tyler Hyun.
- Porsmyr Hansen bested Kawai, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 2 in the second to last match to finish.
- No. 3 singles was the last to finish and both went to tiebreaks with Ryan Monroe winning 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6) against Perkins.

Notes
- Washington is 4-8 overall, while #40 Christopher Newport improves to 9-4 on the season.
