Chestertown, MD – Washington College Athletics Director, Thad Moore announces the hiring of Director of Sports Performance, Brie Johnson. Johnson will assume the role on October 6th.
Johnson takes over the role after serving a four-year stint at Division I Lindenwood University in Missouri. Johnson served as an Athletics Performance coach working with the football and volleyball programs.
"I'm excited to get started and be able to help contribute to the successes at WAC," states Johnson. "I believe my experiences throughout the years as a strength and conditioning coach at multiple levels will allow me to help build upon the foundation of the athletic department and help continue the culture of success."
Not a stranger to the east coast, Johnson served as a strength and conditioning intern at University of Maryland prior to her time at Lindenwood and expressed excitement to return to the state.
"We are excited to welcome Brie to our Athletics Family. Her experience of working with a variety of different athletes from multiple different sports fits the model we have here at Washington College," expresses Moore. "Brie's certifications speak for themselves, and we can't wait for her to push and develop our student athletes to be the best that they can be both on and off the playing fields."
Johnson attended Iowa State University for her undergrad in Kinesiology and Exercise Science and attended Southeast Missouri State University for Graduate School where she obtained an M.S. in Nutrition and Exercise Science.
Among her degrees she is also a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the NSCA, USAW Level 1 Coach, and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach.
"I am looking forward to seeing what these athletes are capable of and assisting in their development to be the best possible athletes, teammates, and people on and off their playing field," says Johnson.
