Sophomore women's swimmer
Julia Banker (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) is this week's Shorewoman of the Week. Banker registered the Washington College women's swimming team's all-time fastest times in the 200-yard backstroke and 400-yard individual medley at the 2025 Franklin & Marshall Invitational this past Friday-Sunday.
Banker, who became the program's record holder in the 400-yard individual medley in last year's invitational, broke her own best time in the 400 individual medley final in 4:36.15 on Saturday night, which was good for second place and the top Division III finisher. She eclipsed her previous best by 1.14 seconds which was set at the 2025 Centennial Conference Championships. On Sunday night in the 200 backstroke, the sophomore moved into the top spot in program history in the event with a time of 2:09.33 for a 10th place result. In the preliminary round of the 500-yard freestyle on Friday morning, her time of 5:14.24 put her into eighth place all-time at Washington and is now in the program's top 10 in six different events. The sophomore ended up finishing 11th in the final in 5:16.11 on Friday night. On Sunday morning in the 100 individual medley, she improved her third best time in team history with a mark of 1:02.74, which was good for 11th overall. Banker's time of 1:01.29 in the 100 backstroke portion of the relay places her eighth all-time in team history.
This is Banker's second career Shorewoman of the Week honor.
