#16 Garnet Best #72 Shorewomen in Centennial Semifinal, 4-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host #16 Swarthmore downed visiting #72 Washington College, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon at Faulkner in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Women's Tennis Tournament in a match that was played to decision. The Garnet is the tournament's top seed, while the Shorewomen were the fifth seed.

Doubles
- Swarthmore took all three doubles matches to get the doubles point. First doubles was the first match to conclude and it was 6-0 win for the host Garnet over Soleil Namunyola and Eva Kading. Swarthmore captured the doubles point at No. 2 with a 6-1 result over Juanita Arbelaez and Jess Wilde. The home side was leading 5-1 at third doubles versus sabella Sorhegui and Gaby Coutts when that match was abandoned to the Garnet netting the doubles point.

Singles
- Two singles was the first match to end and Swarthmore took it, 6-0, 6-2 against Namunyola.
- Fifth singles gave the host Garnet a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 result versus Sofia Sperandei.
- Swarthmore clinched the win at first singles, with a pair of 6-1 scores against Arbelaez.
- Three matches were abandoned due to playing to decision. Swarthmore lead 6-0, 4-3 at No. 3  versus Kading, four singles was 6-2, 4-1 for the Garnet against Sorhegui and sixth singles was Swarthmore ahead 6-4, 5-1 against Samy Fawzi Sanchez.

Notes
- The Shorewomen conclude their season at 12-10 on the season, while the Garnet, ranked fifth in the Atlantic South Region, is 19-6. 
- Three seniors were played for Shorewomen Tennis this season and they were Kading, Namunyola and Sorhegui. The trio reached the conference tournament all four seasons.
