Tim Falkner

Tim Falkner joins the Washington College swimming program with more than two decades of experience coaching at the club level across the United States. Most recently, he served as Head Coach of the Meadville YMCA Swim Team (MYST) in Pennsylvania, where he helped nearly double the size of the program while fostering a culture of growth and achievement. His coaching background also includes positions with competitive teams in Maine, Maryland, and South Dakota.

A 2007 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, Falkner was a standout member of the Diplomats’ men’s swimming team. He served as team captain during his senior year and was voted by his teammates to receive the prestigious George McGinnis Award for leadership and commitment to team values. During his collegiate career, he contributed to three Centennial Conference team championships (2004, 2005, 2007), earned 12 conference medals—including a gold in the 200 breaststroke (2005) and six relay golds—and contributed to multiple conference relay records as a First-Team All-Conference performer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in astrophysics before completing a Master of Engineering in engineering physics at the University of Maine.

Originally from Harford County, Maryland, Falkner began his swimming journey with the Harford YMCA Hurricanes, the North Harford Neptunes, and North Harford High School. Outside the pool, he works as a Control Systems Engineer for Daktronics, Inc.

Falkner’s coaching philosophy centers on helping athletes reach their full potential both in and out of the water, emphasizing personal development, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the sport.
