Ben Armiger

Ben Armiger began working as the College's Waterfront DirectorJuly 1st, 2013. He brought with him over a decade of experience inmanaging waterfront facilities and programs and is a U.S. CoastGuard Licensed Captain and a Level 1 U.S. Sailing Instructor. Since2009, Armiger has worked as a part-time captain at nearby Echo HillOutdoor School, captaining school boats during both day andmulti-day educational trips. Immediately prior to working at EchoHill, Armiger spent a year as the dock master at Haven HarbourMarina in Rock Hall.

From 2000 to 2005, Armiger served as the Sailing Education andPrograms Coordinator at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St.Michaels. In that position, he oversaw annual maritime educationfor over 300 students, facilitated the donation of launchboats for the waterfront program, and expanded the annual gross ofthe waterfront programs sevenfold. Armiger was also the headsailing coach at Gunston Day School from 2004 to 2008 and spenttime as the charter manager at Gratitude Yachting Center in RockHall.

Armiger sat on the Board of Directors of the Chester RiverAssociation from 2004 to 2008 and is a member of the localbluegrass band Chester River Runoff. He graduated from ColbyCollege with honors in 1999, receiving a B.A. in AmericanStudies.
