Sally Snover was named head softball coach at her alma mater during the summer of 2020. Snover returned to Washington College following a four-year stint (2017-20) as the lead assistant coach and hitting instructor at Oberlin College in Ohio. She also serves as Director of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) at WC.Â
In her first season as head coach of the Shorewomen Nine, she guided the team to a second-place finish in the Centennial with an 8-4 mark and a 10-8 overall record as the team swept its last three doubleheaders. That spring, the team swept all the Centennial Conference major awards as Snover was named Coach of the Year, Lexi Barnhart was selected as Pitcher and Rookie of the Year and Grace Moery landed Player of the Year honors. A then program-record six from the team earned All-Centennial honors.Â
Snover coached a pair of All-Centennial selections in 2022 in her second season at the helm of the team.Â
The next spring saw Washington return to the Centennial Conference Tournament for the first time in five seasons with an 11-5 conference mark and first winning campaign since 2017 with a 20-19-1 mark. The Shorewomen earned the three seed in the CC Tournament and won their opening game of the tournament at Dickinson. The 2023 campaign saw seven Shorewomen named All-Centennial, setting a new program record.Â
Washington returned to the conference tournament in 2024 with an 11-5 mark, which was good enough to earn the team’s first top seed in eight seasons and just the second time in program history. Snover and her staff earned the Centennial’s Coaching Staff of the Year, Barnhart was selected CC Co-Pitcher of the Year and five landed all-conference recognition.Â
2025 saw the team reach the Centennial Tournament for a third straight spring as three players garnered All-CC honors.Â
In each of the past three seasons, Snover has coached the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Softball, Barnhart in 2023 and 2024 and Chloe Trefz in 2025. Â
During her time at Oberlin, the Yeowomen had their most successful run at the plate. In her first season in 2017, the Oberlin offense rewrote the record book, setting then team-highs for batting average (.306), runs (183), hits (339) walks (81) and hit by pitches (26). In 2019, the Yeowomen hitters set new school records in batting average (.330) and runs (184) while mentoring the North Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year and NCAC First-Team selection Cat Moruzzi. The freshman turned in a historical season by finishing second in the conference with a batting average of .444 while producing 55 hits to set single-season school records in each category. For three seasons, Snover also mentored Emma Downing '19 who departed the program as the all-time leader in batting average (.374) and runs (115). She is second in school history in home runs (13) and total hits (158) while ranking fifth all-time in NCAA Division III history with 54 hit-by-pitches.Â
Following her graduation from the College in 2012, Snover became the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator of the Shorewomen that summer and served for four seasons. In her first season as assistant coach the Shorewomen won the Centennial Conference Tournament and earned an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament. Washington College topped Utica 11-6 in nine innings in the first round of the Ithaca Regional and became the first women's team at Washington to win an NCAA Tournament contest. The Shorewomen would also reach the conference tournament in 2014 and 2016 with the team hosting the tournament for the first time in 2016. The Shorewomen had their two seasons with the most wins in program history during this time winning 27 contests in 2013 and 26 games in 2014 with the 2014 squad earning the program's first-ever national ranking.Â
She was a fixture at third base for the Shorewomen during her four-year career, starting all 152 games during that span. Snover set the single-season school record for walks with 26 in 2011, a record which still stands. In 2011, she helped the Shorewomen reach the conference tournament for the first time in six years and in 2012 Snover helped Washington reach the championship round of the tournament. She was also a four-time team captain.Â
Snover was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team as a sophomore and the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team as a junior and senior. She earned a spot on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll three times.  Â
Snover finished her collegiate softball career with 121 hits, 72 RBI, 83 runs scored, and 48 walks - making her one of the Shorewomen's most productive offensive players in team history. She earned a B.A. in Psychology for the College in May 2012.Â
