Jason Ringstad was named the head men's and women's tennis coach at Washington College in July 2015. In his first season, the women's team advanced to the Centennial Conference Championship match. The following year, both teams qualified for the Centennial Conference Tournament.
Formerly the interim head women’s tennis coach at UC Santa Cruz, Ringstad had most recently served two seasons as an assistant women’s tennis coach at Washington and Lee prior to arriving in Chestertown.
Ringstad was named the 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Assistant Coach of the Year as the Generals won their 13th consecutive and 25th overall Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. In his two years on the Washington and Lee staff, the Generals saw their national ranking rise from 21st to fourth. Ringstad coached in three ITA Fall National Championship Finals and saw two singles players and one doubles team selected to play in the 2015 NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships. The 2015 Washington and Lee recruiting class was ranked ninth in Division III by TennisRecruiting.net.
During the 2012-13 academic year, Ringstad served as interim head women’s coach at UC Santa Cruz, improving the Banana Slugs’ final national ranking from 30th to 14th. The Banana Slugs posted a 10-8 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. He also had one singles player and one doubles team advance to the NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships and had that same doubles team finish fifth at the ITA Fall National Championships.
Ringstad has spent several summers as an instructor at the Nike Tennis Camp at UC Santa Cruz, working with head coaches from Middlebury, Washington and Lee, and Whittier.
A four-year player at Stevens Institute, Ringstand was a three-time All-Empire 8 first-team and two-time All-Empire 8 second-team selection for the Ducks. He graduated with the second-highest win total in school history.
Ringstad graduated, with honors, with a B.S. in Business and Technology from Stevens in 2011. He was a Dean’s List student every semester. He is currently completing his M.B.A. from Stevens and is on track to earn that degree with highest honors this summer.
