Al Streelman

Al Streelman was named the head baseball coach at WashingtonCollege in June of 1997. Streelman’s connection to thecollege spans four decades. He was the chief assistant coach forthe Shoremen from 1979 until his promotion to head coach,specializing in pitchers and the infield.

Streelman guided the 2010 Shoremen to their first-everCentennial Conference Tournament berth and their first appearancein a conference tournament since the 1984 Middle-AtlanticConference Tournament.

A 1969 graduate of Washington College, Streelman was a four-yearmember of the varsity baseball team and played every position onthe team but catcher.

Streelman’s 191 wins at Washington represent thethird-highest total for a head coach in team history, a historywhich dates back to the 1870s. He trails only Eastern ShoreBaseball Hall of Famer J. Thomas Kibler (299 wins) and MarylandState Athletic Hall of Famer Edward L. Athey (330 wins).
