Julika Blankenship has been the head women'slacrosse coach at Washington College since July 2008.
In the spring of 2010, she led the Shorewomen totheir best record in six years. In the spring of 2011, Blankenshipguided them to 11 wins - their highest total since 2003 - and theirfirst Centennial Conference Tournament berth since that same year. She was named the conference's Coach of the Year. Thefollowing spring, the team reached the Centennial ConferenceChampionship game for the first time ever. In 2013, the Shorewomenreached the conference tournament for the third year in a row, werenationally-ranked for the first time in a decade, and won 13games.
Prior to taking on a head coaching role,Blankenship served as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at theCollege for three seasons. She also served as head women's soccercoach from July 2008 to June 2012.
A native of nearby Crumpton, Blankenship starred inboth soccer and lacrosse in high school, spending two years atQueen Anne's County High School before transferring to neighboringKent County High School. In soccer, Blankenship was a three-timeAll-North Bayside selection and led Kent County to two of the bestsoccer seasons in the school's history. Blankenship earnedNorth-South Senior All-Star honors as a senior, leading the team inassists and finishing second on the team in goals while serving asa team captain. In lacrosse, Blankenship earned Mid-Shore Player ofthe Year honors as a junior and senior, recording at least 100points in each of those two seasons. She was named her team's MostValuable Player as a senior, leading Kent County to a RegionalChampionship.
Blankenship went on to have a standout collegiatelacrosse playing career at Gettysburg College, where she finishedher career as the all-time leader in both points (309) and assists(160). As a senior captain in 2004, she led the Bullets to theirthird consecutive Centennial Conference Championship and a berth inthe NCAA Division III Quarterfinals. She was named a first teamAll-American by the IWLCA/US Lacrosse, Inside Lacrosse,and Womenslacrosse.com and was selected as the CentennialConference and ECAC Southern Player of the Year. Blankenship, whowas also a second team Inside Lacrosse All-American as ajunior, put up back-to-back 100-point seasons in her final twoyears with the Bullets, breaking the single-season school recordfor assists in each pf those seasons.
Blankenship graduated from Gettysburg with a B.A.in Spanish in 2004 and spent one year as an assistant women'slacrosse coach for Division I UC Davis before arriving atWashington College. While serving as an assistant coach atWashington, Blankenship earned a Master's Degree inPsychology.
