Box Score Ripple Makes Nine Saves
COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Host Ursinus College netted
four second half goals and went on to post a 4-0 Centennial
Conference women's soccer victory over visiting Washington College
this afternoon at Wilkes Field. The Bears improved to 7-4-1 overall
and 3-2-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen
fell to 5-6-1 and 0-4.
After a scoreless first half, Ursinus struck 54
seconds when Monica Oliveto headed in a feed from
Jess Porcelan into the upper right corner. Oliveto
tallied an assist on the second goal when her free kick found the
head of Megan Ascanio and Ascanio headed into the
net to make it 2-0 with 36:04 to go in the match. Ascanio made it
3-0 when she took a pass from Brittany Williams
who stole a clearing attempt. Ascanio made it 4-0 when she scored
directly off of a corner kick at the 71:17 mark for her third goal
of the match.
Ursinus held a 30-3 advantage in shots and an 17-0
advantage in corner kicks in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper
Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) made nine
saves in the loss for Washington, while Justine
Harvey stopped one shot for Ursinus. The Shorewomen had a
team save when sophomore forward Jennifer Kiarsis (Rye,
NY/Canterbury School (CT) stopped a shot in the first
half.
The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a
12:30 p.m. kickoff at Centennial Conference opponent Gettysburg.
