Box Score Devaud Scores, Assists for Washington in
Loss
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Ursinus College defeated
host Washington College, 3-2, in a Centennial Conference women's
soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr.
Stadium.
The Shorewomen (4-6-1, 0-5 Centennial) took the first
three shots of the game, but Ursinus (6-5, 3-3) struck first,
scoring on its first shot as Jess Porcelan sent a
pass ahead in transition to Cecilia Mansson, who
scored at 9:08. The Bears made it 2-0 when Sarah
Cogswell scored on a point-blank shot in front of the goal
off an assist from Alex Doll at 14:26. Washington
got on the board at 16:46 when junior midfielder Gabby
Devaud (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) scored from
the top of the box, lofting the ball into the upper left corner of
the goal. The Bears answered 63 seconds later when Mansson scored
her second goal of the game to give Ursinus a 3-1 lead.
Ursinus made that lead hold up until just 49 seconds
remained in the contest when Washington senior midfielder
Katelyn
Malchester (Millersville, MD/Old Mill) scored her
first career goal off a rebounding shot off the foot of Devaud.
Junior goalkeeper Mallory
Kahn-Johnston (Bethel, CT/Wooster School) made a
career-high nine saves in the loss for the Shorewomen. Kara
DiJoseph made six saves for Ursinus.
The Bears held an 18-14 advantage in shots in the
game.
The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 3:00
p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Gettysburg.
