Box Score CHESTERTOWN, MD - Visiting McDaniel College scored a
pair of second half goals to post a 2-0 Centennial Conference men's
soccer victory over host Washington College this afternoon on
Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Green Terror
improved to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play with the win,
while the Shoremen slipped to 3-6-1 and 0-3-1 with the loss.
McDaniel took three shots in the first 13:33 of the
game, all of which were stopped by Washington junior goalkeeper
Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark's). The Shoremen
then recorded six of the final eight shots of the first
half.
McDaniel scored the game's first goal at 71:16 when
Paul Jaworski played a ball into the box that was
knocked in by Matthew Gillen. The Green Terror
tacked on the insurance goal at 80:11 when Barnabus
Furth scored off a double assist with Gillen and
Timothy Wineke.
Washington had a slim 17-16 advantage in shots in the
game, while McDaniel recorded eight of the game's nine corner
kicks. Phipps made seven saves for the Shoremen, while
Zach Nibbelink made five for McDaniel.
The Shoremen are back in action Wednesday with a 3:30
p.m. non-conference game at Catholic.
