Glasser, Miskiel Win Two Events Each
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) and freshman Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) each won two individual events as host Washington College defeated visiting Bryn Mawr, 131-52, in a Centennial Conference women's swim meet. The meet was the season opener for both teams.
Glasser won the 200 individual medley in 2:15.76 to become the Shorewomen's seventh-fastest swimmer ever in that event and the 500 freestyle in 5:13.23. She also led off the Shorewomen's 400 freestyle relay - which swam as an exhibition - with a 54.32 100 freestyle time, making her the Shorewomen's fourth-fastest swimmer ever in that event.
Miskiel won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.74 to become the Shorewomen's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in that event and the 50 freestyle in 25.58 to become the Shorewomen's seventh-fastest swimmer ever in that event.
Sophomore Darcy Zink (Baltimore, MD/Towson) won the 200 freestyle in 2:07.67, junior Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) won the 100 freestyle in 56.20, and freshman Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales) won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.09. Badger, Moore, sophomore Alix Batesko (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes), and freshman Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) won the 200 medley relay in 1:54.87.
Sophomore Allison Kvien (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon) finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:34.58 and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.87. Sophomore Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) was second in the 200 freestyle in 2:07.92 and the 500 freestyle in 5:44.26. Ogren added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 57.03, while Batesko was second in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.95.
The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Gettysburg.
