Box Score Breslin Scores Team-High 13 Points
LANCASTER, PA – James McNally scored a game-high 22 points, while Georgio Milligan added 21 points and had game-bests of six assists and five steals as host #7 Franklin & Marshall topped visiting Washington College, 84-57, on Tuesday night in Centennial Conference men's basketball action at the Mayser Center. The Diplomats improve to 3-0 overall, while the Shoremen drop to 1-4. It was the conference opener for both squads.
The Diplomats jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a three-pointer by Steve Tolliver on a feed from Milligan just 2:24 into the game. Sophomore forward Charlie McShane (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) scored on a layup to cut the F&M lead to 17-10 with 11:02 left in the first half. The Diplomats would respond with a 9-2 run to take a 26-12 lead with 7:59 left on a jumper by James McNally. Brandon Beckford gave the hosts a 34-19 lead with 4:34 left on a layup on a pass from Milligan. The Diplomats took their biggest lead of the half of 20 points at 45-25 on two Milligan free throws with 1:11 left and they would take a 47-29 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Washington got no closer than 16 the entire half. Franklin & Marshall led by as many as 30 points with 5:57 to go in the contest.
For the Diplomats, Beckford added 11 points and Max Brewer scored 10 points. McNally recorded seven rebounds to tie for the game-high. F&M shot 55% in the contest and held a 34-32 rebounding edge.
Junior guard/forward Kevin Breslin (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) had a team-best 13 points, while junior forward Adam Naymick (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) added 11 points. McShane grabbed seven boards, to tie him with McNally for tops in the contest. WC shot just 34% from the floor in the game.
Washington returns to action on Wednesday, December 1, against visiting Haverford in Centennial Conference action. Tip-off at the Cain Athletic Center is 7:30 p.m.
