Glasser Wins Two Individual Events
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Gettysburg College downed hosted Washington College, 119-81, in Centennial Conference women's swimming this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Bullets improved to 2-0 and 1-0 in Centennial Conference meets with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in conference meets with the loss. Senior Rachel Glasser (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) won two individual events for the Shorewomen in the loss.
Glaser won the 200 butterfly in 2:08.68 and the 200 freestyle in 1:57.09. Freshman Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) was second in both the 200 breaststroke and 100 freestyle. Her time of 2:32.07 in the 200 breaststroke made her the Shorewomen's fifth-fastest swimmer ever in the event. She swam a 55.97 in the 100 freestyle.
Freshman Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales), Miskiel, Glasser, and freshman Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) won the 400 medley relay in 4:09.03. Sophomore Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) added a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:39.04.
Gettysburg swam the final event, the 400 freestyle relay, as exhibition entrants only. The Shorewomen's team of Badger, Sykes, sophomore Darcy Zink (Baltimore, MD/Towson), and Ogren received the first-place points with the second-best time - 3:52.85.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. non-conference meet at Salisbury.
