Box Score 2 Lee Nets Double-Double For WC Versus
Catholic
WASHINGTON, DC – The Washington College volleyball team
dropped two matches today in a tri-match at the DuFour Center that
was hosted by Catholic on Saturday. The Shorewomen (1-7) lost
to Catholic, 3-0, (25-20, 25-20, 25-23) in the first match of the
day and fell to Shenandoah, 3-1, (25-17, 25-14, 13-25, 25-17) in
the second match.
Versus Catholic (4-2) in the opening match, sophomore outside
hitter Jenny Lee
(Wilmington, DE/Mount Pleasant) netted her second
double-double of the year with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Sophomore defensive specialist Rita Rivera
(Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) led the
Shorewomen with 13 digs, while sophomore libero/defensive
specialist Kaitlin
Rowan (Damascus, MD/Damascus) contributed 10
digs. Freshman setter Lauren
White (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) handed out 27
assists to lead Washington and all players.
For Catholic, Claudia Jean had a double-double
with 10 kills and 13 digs, while Michaela Carroll
dished out 19 assists for the Cardinals, who also got three blocks
from Kelly Crimmins.
Against Shenandoah (4-0) in match two of the day, Lee just
missed a double-double with 10 digs and nine kills. Rivera
had 12 digs to lead the Shorewomen, while Rowan added 10
digs. White passed out 20 assists in the contest.
The Hornets got double-doubles from Kelcy Brown
and Mary Harshman in the win. Brown had
match-highs of 33 assists and 18 digs, while Harshman had 16 digs
to go with 10 kills. Rachel Maki led all
players with 12 kills and hit .550 in the match. Two others
got into double figures in digs for Shenandoah. Emily
Jones had 13 digs, Megan Gillispie added
12 digs, while Brittany Harryman racked up 10
digs.
Washington returns to action a week from today at the Penn
State-Berks Quad Match. The Shorewomen play Arcadia at 10:00
a.m., Delaware Valley at 12:00 p.m. and host Berks at 2:00 p.m. in
Reading, PA.
