Box Score Reilly Scores Pair of Goals in
Win
ALLENTOWN, PA -- Visiting
Washington College got a pair of goals from junior midfielder
Gussie Reilly
(Buck Hill Falls, PA/Mercersburg Academy) en route to a
4-1 win over host Muhlenberg College in the Centennial Conference
field hockey opener for both schools this afternoon in Allentown,
PA.
The Shorewomen (3-2 overall) took a 1-0 lead when
senior attack Danielle
Rosato (Narvon, PA/Pequea Valley) scored at the left
post after receiving an end-line cross from sophomore midfielder
Kristen Wille
(Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) with 15:26 remaining in the
first half. Reilly made it 2-0 when she scored on a reverse-stick
shot with 3:18 to go in the opening half. The Shorewomen
maintained a 9-4 advantage in shots in the first half.
Muhlenberg (0-5) trimmed the lead to 2-1 when
Chessie Martinez scored on a blast from the left
off an assist from Amanda DiMarco with 29:51 left
in the second half. Washington answered when junior attack
Emily Trees
(Kensington, MD/Connelly School of the Holy Child) beat
Muhlenberg goalkeeper Kristen Dornenburg in the
circle with 23:13 left in the game. Reilly scored her second goal
of the game when she knocked in a loose ball from seven yards out
with 11:47 on the clock to push the margin to 4-1.
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Davis
(Sykesville, MD/Liberty) made three saves in the win for
the Shorewomen, while Dornenburg made five for the Mules. The
Shorewomen outshot the Mules, 14-9, in the game, while the Mules
held an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners.
The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 4:00
p.m. non-conference game at St. Mary's (MD).
