Box Score CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Franklin & Marshall defeated host Washington College, 1-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.
The first shot on goal of the game did not come until the 30:19 mark when Selena Boro had a shot saved by WC senior goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll). Boro scored the game's only goal on the second shot on goal, scoring off a free kick sent by Holly Lagasse at 32:39.
Defense was the story for much of the game as F&M (7-5-1, 5-3 Centennial) finished the contest with a 13-8 advantage in shots. The Shorewomen's (2-11-1, 0-7-1) last shot on goal came at 74:09 when Diplomat goalkeeper Amanda McGovern saved a shot by senior midfielder Gabby Devaud (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame).
McGovern made two saves in the win for the Diplomats, while Ripple made six saves for Washington before being replaced by fellow senior Mallory Kahn-Johnston (Bethel, CT/Wooster School) for the final 2:44.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Haverford.
