Mules Blank Shorewomen, 2-0

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Muhlenberg College defeated host Washington College, 2-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Mules improved to 5-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 2-8-1 and 0-4-1 with the loss. 

Muhlenberg's Nicolette Miller gave the Mules a 1-0 lead at 43:19 to provide the only offense of the first half.  The Mules held a 6-0 advantage in shots in the half, but had few significant scoring opportunities.

Washington nearly tied the score on its first shot of the game as senior midfielder Gabby Devaud (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) sent a ball to the far side of box that was stopped by a diving Muhlenberg goalkeeper Michele Toher at 50:57.  The Mules increased their lead to 2-0 when Meghan O'Grady scored on a breakaway after receiving a pass ahead from Jessica Gonzalez at 59:20. 

Muhlenberg finished with a 12-7 advantage in shots, while Washington enjoyed a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Toher made three saves in the shutout for Muhlenberg, while senior goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) made eight in the loss for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Dickinson.
