Miskiel Wins Two Events
CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting St. Mary's (MD) had the top time in nine of the 11 events en route to a 134-69 win over host Washington College on Friday afternoon at the Casey Swim Center. It was the first win the Seahawks over the Shorewomen since a 120-79 win on January 22, 1999. St. Mary's improves to 6-0 on the year, while WC drops to 2-2.
For Washington, sophomore Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won two events. She captured the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.78 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.43.
The Shorewomen picked up the first-place points in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.70. The relay team consisted of senior Morgan Phillips (Charlottesville, VA/Abermarle), senior Mary Stroman (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Friends Central), junior Sarah Sykes (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) and sophomore Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales).
Phillips placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.39 and Badger grabbed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.82.
For St. Mary's, Kelly Heyde won the 400 Individual Medley (4:37.48) and 500 freestyle (5:22.72), while Hannah Hafey captured the 200 freestyle (2:03.14) and 100 backstroke (1:02.47).
The Shorewomen, who had their 11-dual meet win streak against St. Mary's snapped in the loss, return to the pool on Saturday, November 19, against visiting Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference action at 1:00 p.m.
