TOWSON, MD -- Despite getting outshot, 23-7, host Goucher College used a three-goal first-half to post a 4-2 non-conference men's soccer win over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Towson, MD.

The Gophers (2-4) scored on the second shot of the game as Adam Boyce received a long pass over the defense from Lashaw Salta and found the back of the net at 6:12. Goucher tacked on its second goal when Matt Fazekas scored off an assist from Salta during a free kick at 15:17 and scored its third when Fazekas scored again, this time off a pass from Boyce, at 22:37.

The Shoremen (1-2-1) got on the board at 61:43 when junior midfielder Tim Marcin (Wilmington, DE/Concord) scored from 25 yards out, sending the ball into an upper corner of the goal. Marcin scored again at 67:26 on another long shot to pull the Shoremen to within a goal, but Goucher answered at 71:01 as Salta scored off a feed from Elijah Lais

In addition to their hefty shot advantage, the Shoremen held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks in the game.

Steve Baum made six saves for Goucher, while senior goalkeeper Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) made a pair of saves for the Shoremen.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with their Centennial Conference opener, a 7:00 p.m. home game against Dickinson.
