LANCASTER, PA -- Seventh-ranked host Franklin & Marshall improved to 8-0 in Centennial Conference play and 14-1 overall with a 3-1 win over visiting Washington College in field hockey action this afternoon in Lancaster, PA.

Washington (9-7, 5-3 Centennial) took a 1-0 lead 6:20 into the game when senior defender Hillary Kane (Rhinebeck, NY/Millbrook School) scored off a penalty corner insert by sophomore attack Claire McAuliffe (Clarksville, MD/Glenelg Country School). F&M countered exactly 10 minutes later when Steph McDonald scored off a penalty corner insert by Dana Venditti to even the score at 1-1. The score remained tied throughout the rest of the first half.  Kane's goal came on Washington's only shot of the period. The Diplomats had six shots over the first 35 minutes.

F&M took the lead with 28:53 to play in the game when Venditti scored off a feed from Mary Kate Olson. The Diplomats then gave themselves a two-goal cushion with 23:46 remaining when Maura Hennigan tallied an unassisted goal.
