Blue Jays Sweep Shorewomen, 3-0

White Hands Out 18 Assists

BALTIMORE, MD – Host Johns Hopkins got a match-best 13 kills from Jasmine Warmington as the Blue Jays downed visiting Washington College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-18) at Goldfarb Gymnasium on Thursday evening in Centennial Conference volleyball action.  The Blue Jays are now 17-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Shorewomen drop to 7-9 and 2-1 respectively.

Warmington hit .407 and the Blue Jays hit .242 in the victory.  Becky Paynter handed out 19 assists to lead all players, while Carolyn Zin passed out 15 helpers.  Katie Schwarz served up a match-topping four aces as the hosts recorded 13 service aces in the win.  Ellen Rogers had three blocks to lead all players, while Amelia Thomas tied for tops in the match with nine digs.

Junior setter Lauren White (Huntingtown, MD/Huntingtown) dished out 18 assists to lead the Shorewomen.   Freshman outside hitter Kristin Lee (Dayton, MD/River Hill) had seven kills to lead WC and had nine digs to tie for match-best.  Sophomore libero Kate Liccione (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) also had nine digs to tie Kristin Lee and Thomas. 

The Shorewomen return to the court on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Swarthmore for a Centennial Conference volleyball match.
