Mules Run Past Shoremen, 77-48

ALLENTOWN, PA -- A big run to open the second half gave homesteading Muhlenberg control of the game en route to a 77-48 Centennial Conference men's basketball win over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Allentown, PA. 

Muhlenberg (10-7, 6-4 overall) led by as many as 10 points in the first half and took a 37-30 lead into halftime. The Mules opened the second half on a 16-6 run to extend the lead to 53-36 on a lay-up and free throw by Kevin Hargrove with 14:34 remaining. Muhlenberg out-scored the Shoremen (2-15, 2-8), 40-18, in the second half. 

Malique Killing led the Mules with 21 points in the win, while Hargrove scored 17 points on 8-for-9 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked four shots. Brandon Bovino added 10 points and eight assists for the Mules. 

Sophomore guard John Weston (Tampa, FL/Bolles School), freshman forward Pat Morgan (Havertown, PA/Haverford), sophomore guard Stephen Poarch (Middletown, DE/Sanford School), and senior forward Charlie McShane (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) scored eight points a piece to share team-high scoring honors for the Shoremen.

Muhlenberg shot 51% from the field in the game while holding Washington to 26%. The Mules also enjoyed a 49-31 advantage on the boards.

The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with an 8:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Johns Hopkins.
