Harryman With A Career-High 27 Saves

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Host #16 Ursinus broke open a 2-0 game at halftime with six goals in the second half en route to an 8-0 win over visiting Washington College at Eleanor Snell Frost Alumnae Field in Centennial Conference field hockey action.  The Bears improve to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 3-8 and 2-4 respectively.

Stephanie Cooper put Ursinus on the board 23:36 into the game and in the lead for good with Kelsey Reed notching the helper.  Amber Steigerwalt made it 2-0 just 64 seconds later with Nora Kornfeld recording the assist. 

Ursinus made it 3-0 just 5:22 into the second half when Kornfeld got her second assist of the game on a goal by Megan KeenanDevin Brackel gave the Bears a four-goal lead at 52:39 on an unassisted tally.  Ursinus added four more goals the rest of the way to provide the final margin.

The Bears took the first 21 shots of the game before freshman midfielder Elizabeth Davis (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) got the Shorewomen's first shot 21:02 into the game and held a 59-3 advantage in shots for the game.  The 59 shots are a Centennial Conference record for shots in a game.  Kornfeld handed out four assists, while Keenan scored two goals to pace the Bears' attack.  Reed also contributed with a goal and an assist.

In goal, senior goalkeeper Steph Harryman (Churchton, Md./Southern) made a career-high 27 saves for Washington, 19 of which came in the first half and breaking her previous high of 17, while Danielle DeSpirito made a pair of saves for Ursinus.  The Shorewomen got a defensive save each from sophomore defenders Emily Eline (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) and Sydney Sikon (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding).

The Shorewomen return home on Saturday in a Centennial Conference game versus #5 Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 p.m.
