Dudley Scores Three Times as Shorewomen Drop Bryn Mawr, 6-1, in Season Finale

Box Score

BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- Freshman midfielder Alli Dudley (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) scored three second-half goals as visiting Washington College ended the game with five unanswered tallies to pull away from host Bryn Mawr en route to a 6-1 Centennial Conference field hockey win in the season finale for both schools this afternoon. The Shorewomen finish their season 5-10 overall and 4-6 in Centennial Conference play, while the Owls finish 5-11 and 1-9.

Washington got on the board when freshman midfielder Elizabeth Davis (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) scored off an assist from senior defender Heather Noto (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) during a penalty corner with 11:59 to play in the first half. The Shorewomen took the 1-0 lead into the intermission as one defensive save each by Madison Beckman and Kayla Bixler for Bryn Mawr helped limit the damage. Bryn Mawr goalkeeper Faith Westdorp also made two saves in the half for Bryn Mawr, including one on a shot by Washington junior attack Jackie O'Connell (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) with just nine seconds to go in the period.

The Owls evened the score when Bixler fired in a goal 5:16 into the second half. Washington regained the lead for good on a goal by junior attack Grace Phillips (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) off an assist from junior defender Emily Bodmer (Laurel, Md./Elizabeth Seton) with 20:57 remaining. The assist was the first of Bodmer's collegiate career. Washington's third goal came off the stick of Dudley with 13:06 left. Sophomore midfielder Ali Grady (Narberth, Pa./Harriton) then scored her first collegiate goal off a Noto assist with 8:36 remaining before Dudley scored her second goal with 5:42 left to push the lead to 5-1. Dudley then completed her hat trick with 1:24 remaining to provide the final margin.

The Shorewomen held a 22-13 advantage in shots and a 13-3 advantage in penalty corners in the game. Senior goalkeeper Steph Harryman (Churchton, Md./Southern) made seven saves in the victory for Washington, while Westdorp made eight in the loss for Bryn Mawr.
