Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Gettysburg raced out to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to a 4-0 win on Saturday evening over host Washington College in a Centennial Conference women's soccer match. The Bullets are now 6-0-2 overall and 2-0-0 in the conference, while the Shorewomen slide to 2-3-1 and 0-2-0 respectively.
Gettysburg struck 18:06 into the match when Molly Phillips redirected a pass by Rachel West into the right side of the net to put the visitors ahead by a 1-0 score. The Bullets made it 2-0 exactly 20 minutes later when Jill Baltz ran through the defense and fired a shot from 30 yards out that Washington College freshman goalkeeper Melissa Barry (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) could not handle and the wet ball went into the goal. Baltz scored her second goal of the first half when she rebounded a shot off the post of Colleen Looney and slid into the left side of the goal to give Gettysburg a 3-0 lead into intermission. Looney tallied an assist on the score by Baltz.
Gettysburg made it 4-0 just 6:33 into the second half when Brigid Bahan finished off a Phillips' cross and put it into the right-hand side of the goal to conclude the scoring in the match.
The Bullets held a 15-3 edge in shots in the match and had all seven corner kicks in the contest. For the Bullets, a trio of goalkeepers posted the shutout. Starting goalie Eliza Gray made one save to record the win. She was relieved by Paige Della Badia before she gave way to Morgan Patullo who stopped one shot. Barry made four saves for the Shorewomen.
The Shorewomen return in non-conference action on Wednesday when they travel to Penn State-Harrisburg for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
