Box Score

Duggan Scores For Washington

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson's Melissa Doering scored the game-winning goal with 7:27 left in the game to lift host Stevenson to a 2-1 victory over visiting Washington College on Tuesday night in non-conference field hockey action at Mustang Stadium.  The Mustangs are now 2-1 on the season, while the Shorewomen drop to 0-2.

Doering scored deciding tally when she redirected a pass from Ariella Hopp in the circle.  It was her second goal of the contest.  Washington was unable to get a shot off in the final 7:27 to try to tie the game and Stevenson held on for the win.

The Shorewomen got onto the board first at 14:11 into the game when junior attack Kate Duggan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Academy of the New Church) scored on a shot to the top right shelf to give Washington a 1-0 lead.  The Mustangs tied the game at 1-1 with 6:21 left in the first half when Melissa Doering redirected a pass from Caitlin Dempsey in front of the cage.

Stevenson outshot Washington 11-10 in the game, while Washington had a 12-11 advantage in penalty corners.  Katie Cavanaugh made five saves in goal for the Mustangs, while senior goalie Steph Harryman (Churchton, Md./Southern) turned away five shots.

Washington returns to action on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they play Eastern Mennonite at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
