Box Score Robertson Makes Four Saves; Davis With Game-High Seven Shots
BALTIMORE, Md. – Host Johns Hopkins' Lucy Woodrow scored the only goal of the game 4:05 into the second overtime period to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 double overtime win over visiting Washington College on Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field in a Centennial Conference field hockey game. The Blue Jays improve to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Shorewomen are 5-1 and 0-1 respectively.
Woodrow dribbled in and fired a hard shot from seven yards out and found the right side of the cage to provide the lone goal of the contest at the 89:05 mark.
Washington's best chance to score came at the 20:42 mark of the first half when Johns Hopkins' Leslie MacManus tallied the lone defensive save of the game as she denied the chance of sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Davis (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor). Davis had seven shots in the game to lead all players.
Washington held a 19-11 edge in shots, while both teams had nine penalty corners apiece. In goal, Zoey Atabek made 13 saves in cage for the hosts, while junior goalkeeper Sadie Robertson (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) stopped four shots for the guests.
The Shorewomen are home on Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game with Delmarva rival Wesley.
