Box Score Grabiec Scores First Collegiate Goal in Loss
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Eighth-ranked Ursinus College scored twice in the opening minutes of the second half to break a 1-1 halftime tie en route to a 3-1Centennial Conference field hockey victory over host Washington College tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

How It Happened
- The Bears scored just 4:56 into the game when Amber Steigerwalt corralled a loose ball and scored during a penalty corner.
- Alli Dudley had a pair of shots with under 28 minutes left in the period. The first was kicked away by Ursinus goalkeeper Jules Singer and the rebound shot was turned away by a defensive save from Aliki Torrence.
- Sophie Grabiec tied the game for the Shorewomen when she scored her first collegiate goal by knocking in a ball that had been saved, but not cleared out, by Singer on an initial shot by Allison Remenapp.
- The Bears held a slim 8-7 advantage in shots in the first half, but five of the Shorewomen's shot were on goal compared to only two for Ursinus.
- Ursinus regained the lead when Steigerwalt redirected in a blast sent from the top of the circle just 2:06 into the second half.
- The lead quickly grew to two goals when Bridget Sherry scored on a penalty stroke just 1:19 later.
